Stud Fee's

Both of our adult boys are proven at stud and are good experienced stud dogs. The matings are controlled to ensure safety and ease for both the bitch and the dog. We charge £400, this will include two matings a day apart from each other, we can board the bitch as I know that travelling down for the two matings can be an issue. If your bitch does not take we offer a free remate on her next season. The stud fee is payable at the time of mating, occasionally we will accept pick or second pick of litter. We provide you with copies of the boys health tests, a picture and pedigree as well as the Kennel Club registration forms and advice throught the pregnancy birth and rearing of the pups.

Premates

Premating is a very good idea, it will tell you the optimum time in which to mate your bitch. This can cause un-neccessary stress when mating her if you try to early or too late, it also can upset the dog as when a bitch comes he is expecting a mating so not to get one can upset them!!!

There are several different ways that it can be done. There is a company called Idex, you can get the kit from them get your own vet to take the blood and send the blood sample direct to Idex yourself, I have not used this method but have had reports back that they are very good. Or the vets can send a blood sample off to their local lab, in my experience this isnt very helpful as they are not as precise as Idex and the result is a little non descript!!! The one our vet uses is an in house one, the kits are only as good as the vet using it though!! We are very lucky our vets are very good at the test and can predict upto five days in advance.

The best time to start testing the bitch is normally from when the blood is very pale in colour, you do have to be careful though as some bitches can bleed heavy and red all the way through so it is handy to watch their seasons even before you are wanting to mate them so you can see how the cycle goes.
